Chair of the Game Art department at Laguna College of Art and Design
Game developer with 12 years experience, 11 shipped projects ranging from browser games to AAA titles, and many more that never made it to launch.
I love designing with storytelling and mood with a focus on making normally mundane moments feel interesting
At LCAD I have helped develop their Game Art department over the course of my 10 years there and currently Chair the department. In this role I am in charge of hiring, organizing and assessing the curriculum, employee reviews, student reviews, and developing content.
Classes I teach are:
Fundamentals of Game Art- Our modeling class where the students are introduced to PBR materials and prototype a game.
Lighting and Rendering- An environment modeling class with a focus on modular assets, Substance Designer, lighting in engine, and material creation
Creatures and Characters- Character modeling in ZBrush
Rigging and Animation for Game: Rigging in Max with an emphasis on bringing assets into Unity and making them interactive.
Senior Portfolio-Focus on feedback and guiding students through making their portfolios. A lot of emphasis on "why" they are making it, who is it directed towards, and polish
I have also earned my Masters in Game Design through LCAD where I developed a game managing a team of students.
At BCS I did a lot of Vis Dev and Game Mockups for contracts they were bidding for. We also did consulting for studios on multiple well beloved franchises. In 2018 I helped BCS build an art team of some of my recent graduates
At Inxile I was primarily spearheading game prototypes that the company wanted to pitch. I did a lot of Vis Dev, Character Modeling, Rigging, Greyboxing, and performed the role of Art Lead on some of the smaller projects. I usually worked alongside the Art Directors (Brandon Humphries and Rob Nesler) and the Producer (Dave Jaloza).
